Monster Brawl
Director - Jesse T. Cook
The bases of this film is 8 classic monsters fight to the death in an epic wrestling tournament set inside an abandoned and cursed graveyard.
The film itselfs isnt that bad for a low budget film it follows 8 monsters battling it out to become the champion of the monsters. The monsters can only win there matches by killing there opponent in the ring. That is pretty much the plot for the entire film. The film its self isnt a horror film really as its more of a comedy/ a dig at professional wrestling. For a very low budget film the director and his team were able to get some really big former wwe wrestlers such as Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Heart who is a special ring announcer and Kevin Nash, they were also able to give a nice final polished production/ film and there was some really nice monster make up on the characters such as Frankensten and Swamp Gut but there were a few make up bloopers to say such as Zombie man and Witch bitch there make up didnt look to good. One of the things that let this film down was the monster breawl its self, on paper this probablylooked amd sounded like a good idea but it didnt transfer to the screen that well, the fights arent that exciting and are poorly stage throughout the film. The film has a live action celebrity deathmatch feel to it and also like you are watching a episode of smackdown or raw wrestling entertainment.
This film was good from a research point of view for me to show that you are able to make a film and a low bidget and get your point across, this film could have been much better then it was by going in to the characters a bit more and giving a bit more depth the film in the sense of why they are fighting. The good points i took from this is about how the set design in just one location can make a film and plays as a character by its self and how because you can have monsters in the film it doesnt mean that the monsters are the end all and be all of the film.
