Day 5 of the shoot: Amy and Barry 1st shoot

This was the scene we shot after the voodoo scene on saturday, we originally had two different actors who were going to play this role but days before are actress pulled out, which put us in a difficult position to try and find some actors. On my birthday night outing damian and ross came over and met denise and david( mother and father law) we started thinking they would be perfect for the role so we asked them both and they agreed to play the role which really helped us out. As i live with them i was able to talk in depth about what was going to go on, on the day of the shoot they had a rough idea of what we wanted from them. As the day of the shoot was getting closer i started to get a little worried about how they would come off on camera and thought this might kill the film as the characters they are playing are major characters in the mockumentary but they were amazing at acting after i gave them a few teaks to there acting. They were able to get the main points of what we were trying to get across while keeping it looking natural. Denise who played Amy did a good job of coming off crazy and making us laugh which we hope will make the auodence laugh as well and David who played Barry was one of the best zombies we had on this mockumentary as his timings where perfect with groaning and interacting with Amy.

Meeting with Ricky about restaurant scene

On tuesday the 22nd May I met with Ricky up in the LRC and we had a meeting about the shoot on sunday down at the restaurant, because Ricky was unable to attend this shoot as he had committed to work on another project. We had already done a recce shoot down at the restaurant so i had a rough idea of the shots that were needed, we went through each shot for each scene for the sunday shoot and Ricky asked me to divided the camera roles as i seem fit for the sunday shoot, so i take 1st camera duty as i would be talking on camera and knew how the scene had to look and gave Ross the task of being 2nd camera so he could get cut aways and shoot from a different angle and left Damian with capturing the sound.

After the shoot on sunday i got in contact with Ricky and tols him how the ahoot went and and explain what went on during the shoot and told him about how because of time restraints with both the actors and the mockumentary itself we had to cut some of the scenes from the mockumentary and had came up with a different idea of how to end the mockumentary tying everything together.

This was the last shoot we had to do for the mockumentary it was going to be the restaurant scene, a scene up on the hoe and the register office scene. For the week leading up to this shoot we were able to get around 10 people confirm that they were able to be extras for the restaurant scene as on every shoot we were let down by actors not showing up and contacting me saying they couldn't make it so this part are shoot back by about an hour as we had to try and find some people who could fill in as extras so i had to phone family and friends to fill in and wasnt able to get enough people to film all the scenes we wanted to in the restaurant. This left me and Ross to think on are feet and try to come up with new ideas quick so we could shoot the scene because of this we decided that we would have to cut both the wedding scene and the scene up on the hoe and we decided that we could wrap the mockumentary up by doing a image of each character with a story of what happen to them 6 months into the future in the credits. As we were unable to get enough extras we couldnt capture all the cuts ways needed to make this scene flow better so in the edit we had are work cut out to make this scene flow and make sense to the rest of the mockumentary, as ricky wasn't on this shoot it was good to get a fresh pull of eyes of this scene in the edit and because of this we were able to cut the scene into something different then it was filmed as.On this shoot we were also a man down as Ricky wasn't able to attend which meant we had to work as a tighter group and pick up more of the work load, so it was decided that i would be first camera as i could also director the actors because i was the narrator throughout the film. This i personally thought was the best zombie make up done on all the the scene and it was the best looking zombie on and off camera.

Our target audience for this film will be fans of the zombie genre and documentaries; we have been offered the chance to screen the final edit of the film down at Jack Cham's, the festivals that we would be aiming to pitch this film to would be the likes of The Brighton Documentary Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest and London International Documentary Film Festival. We would also like to think that the film would appeal to those that enjoy the Comedy genre and could look to put the film forward into festivals that specialized within the genre.
